Stephanie Burton has been teaching music in Texas for 17 years, the last of which was as head choir director for Bonham Middle School in ECISD.  Mrs. Burton earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, where she studied voice with Dr. Lynette Chambers and participated in choirs under the direction of the beloved Dr. Loyd Hawthorne.  In May of 2018, Mrs. Burton earned her Master’s degree in Music Education from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, while holding the position of graduate assistant to Dr. Joni Jensen, director of choral studies and Dr. Vicki Baker, Coordinator of Music Education.  While serving as graduate assistant, she directed the University Chorus, assisted with the award-winning Concert Choir, and assisted teaching undergraduate courses in conducting and music education.  Mrs. Burton also enjoyed teaching voices classes and private voice students while at TWU.  Mrs. Burton earned membership in the prestigious Pi Kappa Lambda, a national music honor society.  The primary objective of the Society is the recognition and encouragement of the highest level of musical achievement and academic scholarship.

Prior to getting her Master’s degree, Mrs. Burton worked in Keller ISD, teaching general music K-5 and Lubbock ISD, directing middle school choirs 6-8.  She also served as a private voice and piano teacher for many years.  She has been happily married to Andy Burton for twenty years.  They are blessed to have three children: a 14-year old daughter, Kendra, a 13-year old son, Kaleb, and a 6-year old son, Kooper.
